AMAZING GRACE
by: John Newton; John Rees
I
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now I’m found
Was blind, but now I see.
II
T’was grace that taught my heart
to fear,
And grace my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.
III
Through many dangers, toils and snares.
I have already come.
‘Tis grace that brought me safe
thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
IV
The Lord has promised good to me.
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.
V
When we’ve been there a thousand
years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we first begun.
